Tequesta was named after the Tequesta Indians and the village was incorporated in 1957.

Tequesta, FL has a humid subtropical climate with hot, rainy summers and mild winters. Summer temps range from mid80s to mid-90s F, while winter temps range from mid-60s to low-70s F. The region is hurricane-prone, with a high risk of tropical storms from June to November. Overall, Tequesta's climate is characterized by warm temperatures, high humidity, and frequent rainfall.
